This Privacy Policy explains how Vertex Grid (the "Application" or "Service") handles information when You use Our mobile app. We designed the Application to work primarily on Your Device, with a focus on alpine field logging, horizon planning, seasonal observation, and ridge gameplay.
By using the Service, You agree to the practices described in this Policy. If You do not agree, please discontinue use of the Application.
Editorial alpine field station. Vertex Grid is a mobile experience for pinning ridgeline vantages, reading golden-hour and wind signals, keeping an alpine log with photos and summit voice marks, comparing seasons on a lattice, and playing Ridge Drift — a tripod timing game on the crest. Photographer profile, vantage points, log folios, observations, game records, and camp settings are intended to stay on Your Device unless You choose to contact Us by email or request a weather forecast.
Application means Vertex Grid, the software program provided by Us.
Company ("We", "Us" or "Our") refers to Vertex Grid.
Country refers to: United Kingdom.
Device means any device that can access the Service (for example a smartphone or tablet).
You means the individual using the Service, or the legal entity on whose behalf that individual uses the Service, as applicable.
Vertex Grid does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to external servers operated by Us. Your photographer name, pinned vantages, alpine log entries, voice mark files, seasonal observations, lattice notes, Ridge Drift scores, forecast cache, golden-hour reminder schedules, field units, settings, and similar app data are stored locally on Your Device.
We do not require an account to use the Application. We do not routinely transmit Your local field archive to Us as part of normal use.
We do not collect:
Photo Library (optional): If You choose alpine field photos from Your library, the Application may request access to Your photo library. Photos are used only when You select an image for a log entry. We do not upload Your photos to Our servers.
Camera (optional): If You capture a new field photo, the Application may request access to Your camera. Photos are captured only when You take a picture and are stored locally on Your Device.
Microphone (optional): If You record a summit voice mark, the Application may request access to Your microphone. Audio is recorded only when You start a recording and is stored locally on Your Device. We do not upload Your recordings to Our servers.
Location (optional): If You pin a ridge or request a local forecast, the Application may request access to Your location while in use. Coordinates are used to place vantages and fetch weather data as described below. We do not store Your live location on Our servers.
Notifications (optional): If You enable golden-hour alerts, the Application may request notification permission. Reminders are scheduled locally on Your Device for saved light windows at Your pinned vantages.
Vertex Grid does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or push-notification SDKs. We do not sell or share Your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Open-Meteo. When You request a ridge forecast or use offline cache, the Application may send latitude, longitude, and elevation to the Open-Meteo API to retrieve weather data. Open-Meteo processes that request under its own terms and privacy practices. See Open-Meteo Terms for details.
The Application may open standard iOS surfaces such as the system share sheet when You export an alpine folio or share field content. Those services are governed by Apple's policies.
You may prepare and share an alpine folio export from Camp Settings. You may clear the forecast cache without removing personal logs. Reset Camp Data removes all local ridges, logs, observations, and game records on the Device subject to iOS behaviour. If You contact Us by email, We will use the information You provide only to respond to that request.
Data stored on Your Device is protected by Your device's operating system and any security features You enable. No method of electronic storage is completely secure; We encourage You to keep Your Device updated and protected.
Our Service is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 through the Application. If You believe a child has contacted Us inappropriately, please reach out and We will take appropriate steps.
The Application or Our communications may occasionally reference external websites operated by third parties (for example weather data providers). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy in the Application or on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
